Nathan Katz (1892-1981) is a Jewish Alsatian poet; his masterpiece, written in High-Alemannic Alsatian, is the play S'Annele Balthasar (1924), based on the trial of a young witch in 1589. I translated the play into English as well as modern German. Nathan Katz' language (akin to Swiss German) being the one I was originally born into.
